Former Flying Eagles forward Olamilekan Adebayo put Remo Stars ahead in the 31st minute, while Samson Olasupo sealed the victory with a late goal in the 80th minute. With this win, Remo Stars now have 57 points from 29 matches as they edge closer to a historic first league title.
Meanwhile, Rivers United’s win ensures they remain in contention, keeping the pressure on the leaders. Ikorodu City, who was third, dropped to fourth after a 2-2 draw against Enyimba, allowing Enugu Rangers to move up to third place following a 3-0 victory over Kwara United. At the bottom of the table, Heartland’s defeat to Remo Stars has pushed them closer to the relegation zone, now just one point above safety with 34 points from 29 games. Nasarawa United and Akwa United also secured crucial results to aid their survival battle, with Nasarawa earning a 1-1 draw at Kano Pillars and Akwa United defeating Shooting Stars 2-0.
